We are writing to wish you a very Merry Christmas on behalf of everyone at GSIS.
The 2019-2020 school year was one like no other. Hong Kong faced civil unrest and then the world was dominated by Covid-19 which meant adapting to new challenges of lockdown, home learning, travel chaos, public exam cancellations, global job insecurity and for so many of the GSIS community, enforced distance from loved ones. However, throughout these turbulent and often highly challenging times, our students, staff and parents consistently prioritised education and equally important, our students’ and staff’s wellbeing and morale.
It has been great to reconnect and stay in touch with so many of you this year through GSIS Engage and the school is fully committed to following our 3 year Strategic Alumni Engagement Plan which was shared with you on 28th September, and is available on our website and Engage. Our Alumni network numbers continue to grow with over 400 registered old GSIS students and staff spread around the world. Sadly due to the pandemic, we have not been able to hold our planned gatherings but we continue to maintain and deepen connections with our Alumni. We are looking forward to holding events in 2021 and beyond as part of our continued effort to engage with you and will seek feedback to ensure we are offering the members of our network significant value.
The Advancement Department’s priority from January 2021 is to build an integrated community model which includes them being the hub and gateway for the entire GSIS community to be brought together to connect. Their aim is to be the catalyst that helps all those different interactions to happen for the benefit of the students and the other members of the community. We would love to hear from more of our Alumni and find out about what you’re doing now and hear about your memories of the school. Signing up to GSIS Engage is not only a great way to stay in touch with what’s going on at the school now, but it also helps to widen your professional and personal networks and is a means to search and find fellow alumni in your area or profession. Furthermore, you can play an active and important part in helping and inspiring our current students by volunteering to become a mentor, coming back to visit the school to speak about your career paths and achievements, getting involved in school events or posting your story or news on GSIS Engage.
If you are planning on visiting GSIS or Hong Kong, please let us know as we always enjoy welcoming returning Alumni to the school. Once again, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.
